Sustainability at Peppers Soul

Here at Peppers Soul we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment.

We understand the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. By removing single-use plastic amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps from our guest rooms, we are significantly reducing our environmental footprint. Instead, guests can request dry amenities by calling room service or visiting our friendly team at reception.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel.

Vacayit

Peppers Soul has partnered with Vacayit, Australia's first and only sensory audio-based tourism platform, to change the way promote our business.

Tourism organisations often rely on imagery to promote destinations, leaving blind and low vision tourists with little information to plan and book their dream holiday, until now. We provide sensory experiences through storytelling, soundscapes, and history clips, enabling users to make informed and independent decisions about where to travel and enhancing the on-site experience

Food Waste

At HYDE Paradiso, we are committed to reducing food wastage and promoting sustainable practices across our food and beverage outlets and conferencing department. We understand the importance of minimising our environmental impact while delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests.

  • Live Herb Garden supports circa 50% of all garnish and herbs used in venue
  • Composted waste is used in this area to support cycle of life from garden to table to waste and then returned to garden.
  • Incorporated seasonal menu and local supplies
  • All meat is ordered in bulk and in whole; we utilise bulk purchase to ensure we limit waste.

Recycling

At Peppers Soul and HYDE Paradiso, all hotel waste is separated into co-mingle, cardboard, food waste and general waste, minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition, we have taken a number of steps to further reduce water and embrace a circular system.

  • All in F&B venue containers are plastic free.
  • All suppliers for the kitchen are local sourced produce
  • All orders for the hotel are ordered in bulk to reduce wastage.

Community Support

Here at Peppers Soul, we are committed to fostering a strong sense of community and supporting the original custodians of the land in which we operate, the Yugambeh people. Through meaningful engagement and collaboration, we strive to honour and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Yugambeh nation.

Our initiatives include partnering with local Indigenous artists and businesses, offering cultural education for both guests and staff, and actively contributing to the economic and social well-being of the Yugambeh community.

By working together in harmony and respect, we aim to create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and included.

We are proud to be a Sustainable Tourism Certified hotel with Ecotourism Australia. The Sustainable Tourism Certification program assesses our environmental, socio-economic, cultural and responsible management principles to ensure we are minimising our negative impacts and maximising benefits for the environment, communities and culture. This achievement reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable hospitality and creating positive impacts for our team, guests, local community and planet.

Accessibility

At Peppers Soul on the Gold Coast, we are committed to meeting the diverse needs of all our guests, including those with mobility challenges. While we do not currently offer dedicated accessible rooms, our spacious open-plan apartments are thoughtfully designed to ensure ease of movement and comfort for everyone. Most of our apartments boast wide corridors, facilitating easy navigation with mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walkers. The open-plan layout of our apartments eliminates barriers and tight spaces within the living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms, which are equipped with walk-in showers for added convenience.

Recognizing the importance of external access, we are delighted to arrange external variety of support upon request. These resources such as scooters, shower chairs or walkers ensure seamless and secure entry and exit from the hotel, allowing guests to enjoy their stay with confidence. Furthermore, our attentive staff are always on hand to assist with any specific accessibility needs or requests, ensuring that every guest enjoys a pleasant and memorable stay with us.
